Enthusiast Radio No. 2: Desert Snow
A midwinter playlist that dreams of cold sand and open spaces
Well hello there.
It’s that long quiet stretch of winter when, despite our most diligent intentions, the mind tends to wander at work, and the eyes stray out the window. It’s a time when we dream of train engines, pale wine catching the yellow light, of slamming the car door and streaming westward down an empty highway with nothing but a leather bag in the back seat.
All very romantic. All very unrealistic. But the dream is a sustaining one anyway—a little shot of fantasy that scalds the throat on the way down and makes things feel better.
Here’s a playlist made for you, our dear subscribers, in that spirit. Part of the ongoing Enthusiast Radio series. Turn it on and, in the words of Richard Wilbur, join the “huge traffic bound forever west.”
Cheers.
